BIOPLASTIC LIBRARY

Bioplastic library is a library created by Basic Design students in the 22-23 spring semester. The students used a template to discover bioplastics that have different material properties. The level of transparency, elasticity, strength, and heaviness of the self-created materials is tested, analyzed and visualized. The 10×10 form that they can shape is investigated. The main aim of the assignment is to conceive the material and its potential with a sustainable approach.

ABOUT US

ComputationBased_BasicDesign @ BiLGi is a specially developed first-year design studio integrating the latest high-end design and manufacturing technologies to design education in its early year. The purpose of the studio is to develop a new-generation design education milieu by integrating 1:1 scale construction experience through an understanding of materials and computational design+manufacturing technologies from the very first year of design education. The main objective of the studio is to develop creative ways of design thinking and constructing through materials, geometry, and recent technologies. Computational technologies and means rather than just being a tool, inhabit a quite capable design logic, that requires an alteration of settled educational habits and pedagogies. The pedagogical intentions of the studio are to develop an awareness of the nature of things, materials, technologies, and their close/far environment.
